ORiS and Telespazio Germany sign a commercial MoU for the future of In-Orbit Servicing

November 20th, 2025
Through the new collaboration, ORiS and Telespazio will work together to explore and assess In-Orbit Services business.

During Space Tech Expo Europe 2025, the premier European event for space technology professionals held on November in Bremen, the Italian start-up ORiS and Telespazio Germany have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) establishing a commercial collaboration, under which Telespazio Germany will provide a full end‑to‑end ground segment and mission operations to support next‑generation In‑Orbit Servicing aimed at satellite wireless recharge capabilities.

‍The MoU brings together Telespazio’s extensive experience in mission operations with ORiS’ leadership in laser-based wireless power transmission technologies, placing satellite wireless recharge capability at the core of the initiative.

The start-up's project

Founded as a spin-off of Politecnico di Torino, ORiS - acronym for Orbital Recharge in Space - is an innovative start-up incubated in ESA BIC Turin, the incubation program managed by I3P - the Innovative Companies Incubator of Politecnico di Torino - in collaboration with the European Space Agency (ESA), the Italian Space Agency (ASI), Politecnico di Torino and LINKS Foundation.

ORiS aims to unlock uninterrupted energy access for satellites, drones, and surface systems anywhere in the solar system: a future in which they are enabled to run continuously, sustained by wireless power across orbits and planetary environments.

The collaboration with Telespazio Germany

Through this agreement, ORiS and Telespazio will work together to explore and assess In-Orbit Services business, evaluating their use in future missions and benefits for satellite constellations, institutional operators, and emerging space companies.

‍“The signature of this MoU is an important milestone for ORiS and will accelerate the development of our in-orbit satellite recharging service. We are proud to work with a world-class partner such as Telespazio, whose experience and capabilities will be crucial", said Andrea Villa, CEO of ORiS.

‍“Working together with ORiS, an exciting new space company, enables us to enter the In-Orbit Services domain while uniting heritage and deep-tech innovation to advance the missions of tomorrow", commented Sigmar Keller, CEO of Telespazio Germany.
