The “Aerospace in 5D” exhibition will take place in Turin, Italy, from May 25 to 30, as part of Future Week Torino 2026, with the aim of bringing sectors often perceived as distant and highly specialized closer to the public through an accessible, engaging, and future-oriented experience, in line with the mission of the STEAM Experience Hub.
The festival's rich programme, which will feature over 20 events aimed at families and young space enthusiasts, includes a session titled “Saving lives with AI immediately after a disaster", to be held on Wednesday, May 27, at 3:00 p.m. at the Mercato del Corso in Turin. The session aims to provide a concrete example, backed by verifiable data, of how innovative technology can help save lives and serve the public interest.
The hours following a major disaster - such as a flood, earthquake, fire, or hailstorm - are critical for mobilizing rescue efforts and conducting an accurate assessment of the damage. The combination of artificial intelligence and computer vision models can rapidly analyze satellite imagery and drone footage of the affected areas and provide an initial assessment down to the level of individual properties.
Drawing on real-world examples, Radmehr Mohebbi, CEO of the startup StarView - which is incubated in I3P within the ESA BIC Turin program - will deliver a presentation in English language outlining the benefits of this technology for civil protection agencies, public bodies, and insurance companies. He will demonstrate the wealth of information actually contained within the images and how it is possible to drastically reduce analysis times compared to traditional methods, while maintaining a high degree of accuracy.
Attendance at the event is free, subject to registration on the Future Week Torino portal.
