The INNOspace Masters competition 2021-2022 is open

October 19th, 2021
The seventh round of the innovation competition will run until 4 February 2022

The INNOspace Masters innovation competition is looking for world-changers with new ideas for the next space generation.

Started by the the German Space Agency at DLR in 2015, the INNOspace Masters is an annual innovation contest part of the INNOspace® initiative. The competition looks for pioneering ideas relating to the transfer of technologies, services and applications from space into other sectors and vice versa. Together with the ESA Business Incubation Centres (BICs) in Bavaria & Northern Germany, Hessen & Baden-Württemberg, Airbus, OHB and Mercedes Benz, the German Space Agency at DLR offers five different competition categories within the INNOspace Masters.

The five challenges

The Challenges cover the entire scope of the innovation process, from R&D projects, newly founded companies and new business models, to marketable solutions:

  • The DLR Challenge is aimed at pre-competitive R&D projects and application-related research projects. A registered office in Germany is mandatory;

  • The ESA BIC Challenge focuses on ideas in the founding phase and the “market potential” stage or market-oriented prototypes that have already been developed. A registered office or a registration address in Germany is required;

  • The Airbus, OHB and Mercedes Benz Challenges search intensively for ideas that are already in the innovation and/or integration phase with existing technologies, systems, services and/or solutions.

The prizes for the winners are, among others, access to the Europe-wide network of experts, possible funding for each project, assistance in transforming the business concept into a viable business plan and pitch opportunities.

Companies, SMEs, start-ups, research institutions, universities, teams and individuals of legal age are eligible to participate in the INNOspace Masters.
