Veneto stars 2023: the challenge for space data in the agri-food sector

February 17th, 2023
Interested teams can submit their ideas and projects on the challenge's official website until March 15th.

Promoted by the Italian Veneto Region, the 2023 edition of the "Veneto stars" challenge is looking for teams of passionate, talented European innovators aged 18-25 who have an idea to solve challenges in the agri-food sector by using space data. The aim of the challenge is to select, award and exploit innovative ideas focused on agri-food that can be relevant for the region.

Agri-food is intended as the broad range of elements characterising the agriculture and food industry, ranging for example from aquaculture to land management, from sylviculture to smart harvesting, from yield optimisation to autonomous devices.

Evaluation process and prizes

From February 1st until the application deadline of March 15th, teams can submit their ideas and get their chance to move in the next phase. In fact, by April 1st, ten ideas/concepts will be selected and the correspondent teams will be awarded with a stay in Venice, where they’ll discover opportunities in the area, visit research centres and present their ideas during the Space Meetings Veneto event in May 2023, where the winner will be chosen by a jury of experts and professionals from the space sector.

The overall winning team will be awarded with a one-week stay in Veneto in September 2023 to concretely apply their idea, with the support of experts. With this project, the Veneto Region aims to become a reference point for digital innovation, particularly for dynamic and enterprising young Europeans.

An opportunity for young space enthusiasts

The challenge is open to teams composed of fresh graduates, students, and young professionals aged 18-25, resident in EEA+Switzerland. Teams can be made of 2 to 7 members and shall use space data to address specific challenges of the Veneto Region.

Why should you get interested in joining the initiative?

  • To challenge yourself and get the chance of applying your idea in a real context

  • To be sponsored to visit Italy and especially the Veneto Region innovation ecosystem

  • To attend the Space Meetings Veneto event and get exposure to space sector professionals

  • To meet local stakeholders in the space and non-space sectors

  • To get in touch with potential investors, partners and mentors to boost your idea

How to take part in the challenge

Once the team is formed and the idea has been defined, the application to the challenge can be submitted through the dedicated form on the official website of Veneto stars, which also offers a downloadable participant guide to provide detailed information about the initiative and an e-mail contact for any further question.
